Warframe 1999 Expansion: A Hilariously Messy Time Loop with The Hex Syndicate
Well, here I am in 2026, diving headfirst into Warframe's latest expansion, '1999', and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I mean, one minute I'm chilling in my Orbiter, the next I'm thrown back to the late 90s to deal with a bunch of proto-hipsters called The Hex who got infected with the Technocyte virus by a time-traveling Orokin scientist. Classic Tuesday, right? The story kicks off with the charming city of Höllvania getting nuked at New Year's—only for a time loop to reset everything. Talk about a bad hangover. I woke up as this dude Arthur, whose hand has a mind of its own and starts typing an address on his PC. Before I know it, I'm meeting the crew: Amir, Aoi, Quincy, Eleanor, and Lettie. A motley crew if I ever saw one, all desperate to find the mysterious Doctor Albrecht Entrati.

So, after a brief meet-and-greet where everyone looked at me like I was an alien—which, technically, I am—we hopped on our Atomicycles. Yes, you read that right: Atomicycles. It's like a motorcycle but with more atomic puns. We cruised through the neon-drenched streets of Höllvania, only to bump into Major Neci Rusalka and her goons, the Scaldra. And then, bam! A massive H-04 Efervon Tank shows up, blocking our path. Quincy, bless his heart, gave me a crash course in tank destruction: 'Hit the cables, then the vents, and for Void's sake, steal a rocket launcher from those Scaldra jerks!' I did just that, and after a glorious explosion, I got up close and personal with the wreckage. Little did I know, this would lead me to an underground subway tunnel where a Helminth-like creature barfed out a fully-formed Excalibur Warframe. Turns out, it was the Drifter—that's me from another timeline—piloting it. Arthur, being the overachiever, quickly overpowered me and dragged me off for interrogation. Smooth move, Arthur.

Fast forward to Part 2, and things got even weirder. Albrecht Entrati was being tortured by Viktor Vodyanoi, but plot twist: Major Rusalka dropped her facade and revealed she's actually The Man In The Wall. That creepy entity from the Void followed Albrecht back in time and started taunting him, disguising himself as Loid. Albrecht, unimpressed, just scoffed. Back at the mall—our makeshift base—Arthur decided I wasn't a threat. He didn't trust me, but hey, he gave me some weapons and an Atomicycle. My mission? Find Doctor Entrati. I raced through the city, only to reach his captive room and find The Man In The Wall laughing at me before vanishing. Typical. 😒
In Part 3, the city got hit with an airborne Technocyte virus. Quincy and I had to run a 10-minute survival mission to purify the place. It was chaotic, running through underground locations, fending off infected Scaldra, and trying not to get turned into a Technocyte zombie. Once time ran out, we extracted and headed back to the mall, where everyone was panicking. But then, Kalymos showed up! She led us to a secret lab called the Mall Backroom, which Albrecht had set up. This place was decked out with all my Orbiter gear, so I finally got my real Arsenal back. No more using Arthur's janky weapons!

Kalymos showed me videos from Entrati, revealing the grim truth: to escape the time loop and trap The Man In The Wall, the atomic bomb had to go off, killing every member of The Hex. Yikes. Aoi called, saying they'd found Entrati's location, so we teamed up to steal a truck. This led to a crazy mission where I manned a Scaldra Rocket Launcher from the truck bed while Aoi drove like a maniac. We caught up with the convoy, but Major Rusalka crashed into us. Under the wreckage, we found Entrati alive, only for Rusalka to be controlled by The Man In The Wall. As the Drifter, I had to choose: refuse to kill an innocent or challenge Entrati to do it. I went with the former, and he called me naive. The Man In The Wall escaped—again. Sigh.
Part 5 was a rollercoaster. Arthur decided Eleanor should commune with the Techrot hivemind under the city. I had to pick a Hex member to control (not Quincy) for a Mobile Defense mission. I chose Eleanor, and after she connected, Lettie helped lure Scaldra away from the bomb site. Meanwhile, I had a vision on the Zariman, seeing each Hex member die before Albrecht shot me. Back in Höllvania, Quincy sacrificed himself so Aoi, Amir, and Arthur could enter the facility. Underground, Lettie and Eleanor fought to the death, both corrupted. Aoi died trying to disarm the bomb, Arthur succumbed to radiation after fighting a Babau Techrot, and Amir got shot by Albrecht. Every death from my vision came true. I arrived too late, and Albrecht tried to reason with me. I still wanted to save The Hex, so he shot me in the stomach. As I fell, I used my telekinetic powers—the same ones that created the Duviri loop—to go back in time once more.

I woke up in 1999 again, but this time on January 6—earlier in the year. Entrati seemed to trust me to save The Hex, so now I have more time to level up their syndicate and twist their fates. As for rewards, Loid sent me some goodies:
-
Cyte-09 Blueprint 🛠️
-
Forma x1 🔧
-
Magnetic Might Mod x1 ⚡
Overall, this expansion is a hilarious, heart-wrenching mess of time loops, neon aesthetics, and moral dilemmas. I'm excited to see what 2026 brings for Warframe—maybe more time travel shenanigans? One thing's for sure: I'll be grinding that Hex syndicate like there's no tomorrow. Or yesterday. Or... you get the idea. 😅
